What is love, really?

“Love means never having to say you’re sorry”…  – Love Story, 1970

Well we all know that’s bullshit for a start. Can you imagine?

“Honey, I slept with your sister, she’s pregnant, we all have herpes. I’m sor…”

“Nope, shush, it’s okay because I love you, no need to apologise”

Yeah, that’s not happening.

So love is most definitely not a get out clause for anyone. Some might say it’s just a chemical reaction, an amalgamation of endorphins and other hormones, that is now preyed upon for commercial reasons and it also gives us something to worry about now that we don’t have dinosaurs chasing us or glaciers falling on our heads. Yes that is most likely the correct answer, science! But for many people that’s not very romantic.

“Congratulations! The chemical reactions in your brain made you have warm fuzzies for a male of your species”

Love is such an extraordinary feeling, it’s probably the only thing in the world that I would describe as ‘joyous’. I can’t think of a place where that word could be used other than church. We have so many different forms of love. I love chocolate and being outdoors but I also love my boyfriend, my son, my family and friends, my pets; but these are all such varying degrees of love. It’s almost overwhelming how much love you can fill your brains, I mean hearts, with. It’s made up of so many different things, it’s when you creep in to your child’s room and watch him sleep even though he’s 12 and nearly taller than you. It’s when I’m having a meltdown and Chris just sits with me until I stop crying. It’s when I look at him and think ‘If you love me half as much as I love you then I am most definitely the luckiest girl in the world’. It’s when a smell suddenly transports you back to a childhood holiday destination and you can’t help but smile because your Mum was so daft, your Dad wore socks with his sandals and your brother was nice to you for five minutes! So this is my observation of love, I am brimming over with love and I only hope that you are too.

Hug someone and spread some love ∞ It’s beautiful to be in love and to know that you are loved ♥

Don’t ever let anyone make you think you’re not good enough.

Follow your dreams right now! Don’t wait until tomorrow,

next week, next year. Stop planning, start doing 🙂
