My spiritual walk…

meditate

I’m not religious. I would probably class myself as spiritual, actually I’d like to class myself as spiritual. I do not spend enough time being spiritual. My meditation time has been lacking recently and I am feeling very guilty.

A few weeks ago I was telling you all how great it was making me feel and how I was experiencing some wonderful things. Well I admit, I’ve let it slip.

I’ve recognised this error and my plan is to get back to it. I’m not entirely sure why I let it slip. It’s not as though it’s difficult.

It’s the easiest thing in the world really.

Sit there for 10 minutes and do nothing, just breathe deeply and concentrate on each of your body parts. There we go, done!

Ahh but it’s not the process of the meditation that we find difficult. It’s the guilt that we struggle with.

“I can’t just sit for 10 minutes and do nothing! The washing needs doing, the cat needs feeding, I need to balance my cheque book”

Who balances their cheque book? My Nana Lil used to balance hers actually, bless Banana Lil…

Aside from my Nana who even owns a cheque book?

Anyway my point is you do have time. I know for a fact that you have spent at least 20 minutes scrolling through your Facebook/Instagram…whatever. That 20 minutes could have easily been used to meditate. Don’t worry I’m just as guilty as you. I’ll even let you in on a little secret, I set a reminder on my phone to do Yoga and to meditate every night at 7pm. I have ignored every single one of those reminders for at least a month.

I’m only letting myself down though. I know how incredibly beneficial Yoga is and the things I have experienced through meditation must be what it feels like being on drugs. Only better because it’s free and legal!

So remember, instead of scrolling through everyone’s repetitive, mundane Facebook posts, switch your phone to silent and just breathe. In and out for 10 minutes.

It’s just 10 minutes. Let me know how you’re getting on, I want to know if you experience any weirdness like I did. Also if you’re doing it then I have to do it too!

Don’t do drugs, meditate instead ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here’s a quick, guided meditation by Holly Matthews, to get you started, it’s only 5 minutes longย Calm and Relaxed.

Don’t ever let anyone make you think you’re not good enough.ย

Follow your dreams right now! Don’t wait until tomorrow,ย

next week, next year. Stop planning, start doing ๐Ÿ™‚

Be happy and keep smiling ๐Ÿ™‚
