On Saturday night I lost my blog awards virginity and it did not disappoint. This was the first annual Northern Blog Awards, created and organised by the incredible HollyGoesLightly.
I have never attended an event like it, from the venue down to the name cards, every detail was perfect.
When I first began blogging it certainly wasn’t to win awards, to be honest I didn’t even realise that Blog Awards were a thing.
I blog for my own pleasure, to hopefully inspire others, offer up my thoughts and to one day make it my career.
Blog awards are an excellent way to bring recognition to thousands of talented writers, foodies, make-up artists, book worms and so much more. However most blog events and award ceremonies are held in London and so to make them more accessible for us Northerners the Northern Blog Awards were born.
For many people, getting ready for the night ahead is just as exciting as the night itself and this night in particular I really enjoyed the process of getting dolled up. There was no rushing, Hayley did my make-up and we just chilled in the hotel room until it was time to leave.
With our glad rags on, make-up and hair done, we jumped in to our taxi and headed to the glitzy venue.
The awards were being held at The Principal in Manchester, an absolutely stunning building, one in which I could easily spend hours just sitting in the foyer.
We were escorted down to the ballroom and our names were taken to check against the guest list darling, we made our way down the red carpet, stopping briefly for the paparazzi…

The ballroom was breath taking, there were displays set up by the sponsors; Booths, Christy, Bathroom Takeaway, Hey Little Cupcake!, Key103, Six&Flow, each with their own dedicated way to interact, there was even a retro games corner complete with PacMan, Space Invaders and Defender!
We were handed our complimentary glass of fizz and sent off to mingle and take obligatory selfies. This was definitely the one event where you can be glued to your phone and not be accused of being anti-social.
Sharing, tweeting, Facebook live and all those #’s were heavily encouraged to get the night promoted and trending and as far as I know we succeeded!
Awards were presented, speeches were made and some of the most delicious food ever created was devoured. Seriously, the food was just phenomenal, I was so excited about my main course that I forgot to take a picture of it. Fear not, I did manage to capture the starter and dessert.
The night was incredible, I met some truly remarkable people, I felt I was in good company all evening. A room filled with like minded bloggers, influencers, vloggers and just downright awesome people. Some of whom have been given the recognition they so rightly deserve for all the hard work and dedication that they pour in to their creativity.
Thank you people’s for sharing your lives with the world, commiserations to the nominees who missed out and congratulations to you incredible winners.
Oh and thank you so much for the most incredible goody bag ever!
Here’s to next year!
