We all dream, whether or not we remember our dreams is a different matter.
I always assumed that everyone had weird, f**ked up dreams. I’ve never had a dream that was just normal. Something bizarre, terrifying or just weird usually happens.
I only started thinking about it when I heard someone refer to their dream as weird because in it they owned a cat…
Well funnily enough I did dream last night that we had a cat, only this cat could talk and it told me about the flies I had living in my pen…I mean a pen that you write with, they were living up inside the clicky bit of the pen…yes, exactly, I have no idea what the hell that is about. I have given up trying to interpret them.
Since terrorist attacks became more prevalent in this country, or maybe since the attack in Manchester, I have been dreaming of a world where terrorists have taken control. Basically where I’m living in a post apocalyptic world where my brother and I are drug dealers, selling drugs to kids and getting our fingers sliced off by terrorists, I can tell you that was not pleasant.
I once had a dream that my 6 month old son (at the time he was 6 months old) could walk and was pregnant…he had a pregnant belly and in the dream this was perfectly normal but he was really unsteady on his feet, as you would imagine a pregnant 6 month old to be! What the actual f**k is that about? Where and why has that even come from in my head?
I have to admit that I do watch a lot of weird s**t which would definitely explain the dream I had about secret rooms hidden in the walls of my otherwise perfect house. Rooms where ghosts and pig men lived and they chased us through the house and it was terrifying.
I definitely put this down to watching American Horror Story but even in the past my dreams have always been slightly disturbing.
I have also had some excellent dreams to make up for the evil that lurks in my head. I’ve even been able to control certain aspects of them at times. These dreams are few and far between though and only ever seem to occur when I’m in a total relaxed state, which if you know me, is never.
My favourite kind of dream has definitely got to be the flying ones. It’s such an incredible felling, it just feels free and it gives you such a rush.
Obviously I know it’s not real, it’s a dream but that makes even more incredible. We can potentially fly whenever we like! It creates an enormous adrenalin rush especially when I am plummeting towards the ground and then suddenly I’m soaring back up in to the air again.
I love that I can remember my dreams, it’s something that makes me feel more connected to my own mind. My brain doesn’t always make sense to me a lot of the time and sometimes it makes me miserable and sad and other times I honestly think it’s trying to kill me. So this is sort of a little gift from my broken brain, sometimes it’s saying,
“Look your life could be worse, at least you’re not having your fingers chopped off in real life…” or
“Yay! Your 6 month old isn’t pregnant…” So thanks brain, you’re a doll!
Dreams are a beautiful way for you brain to make sense of the events in your life, kind of like a complex, fancy filing system.
I imagine that the more chaotic and eventful your life is the weirder your dreams will be…or you’re just high on crack!
Sweet dreams…x
Don’t ever let anyone make you think you’re not good enough.
