My Top 5 Inspirational Films

1. Wild – Reese Witherspoon plays Cheryl Strayed, the crazy woman who loses her Mum to cancer and decides that she has to walk over 1,000 miles to work through her grief. It’s based on a true story, the book is far better than the film (isn’t it always). I can watch this over and over, it fills me up with determination and makes me want to get off my backside and do something, mainly it makes me want to hike PCT. 2. Eat, Pray, Love – I will watch anything with Julia Roberts in it, because she is beautiful. … Continue reading My Top 5 Inspirational Films

The Brontës

Haworth is a beautiful, historic village nestled in to the outskirts of the Pennines. It is famous for its cobbled streets, olde world sweet shop, apothecary and of course it was the home of The Brontës from 1820 until 1861. The Brontë sisters, and their brother, were born in Thornton village, just along the road from where I grew up. This is where my love of the Brontës and Haworth stems from. I feel a connection with them and Brontë Country because to me they are of great importance, their history, and the imprint they have made on the world. … Continue reading The Brontës

I was once told that I use the word ‘love’ too often and if it was said too much it lost it’s meaning. Well b***s to that! I love lots of things. Plus, the word ‘love’ just rolls nicely off the tongue, ‘like’ is too much effort 😛   So here is my list of things I love, by no means is this list exhaustive. Keeping up with the Jones’

How often are you comparing yourself to others? Do you look at other people and wish you had their hair, their shoes, their money? Do you tell yourself that their children are progressing far quicker than yours? They’ve lost more weight than you? Do you constantly ask why they have everything? How is it fair that they have their dream job, dream house, new car, perfect relationship, well-behaved children… Stop! Stop it right now. I mean it, stop it right this second. Those lives that you see are not perfect. I can assure you that no matter how ‘together’ you … Continue reading Keeping up with the Jones’

Paranormal Interview

An interview with a medium. They chose to remain anonymous due to personal reasons. 1.When did you first realise you had this gift? Do you class it as a gift? Yes, I class it as being a gift. I was 6 or 7 when I first realised I had it. 2. What has been your strangest experience? I once saw a presence riding alongside me and my horse. The horse began to act quite weird and at first I just thought he was misbehaving, I then realised that he could sense we weren’t alone. 3. Stop labelling yourself

I have no doubt what so ever that mental illness is real. I know it is real, I’ve witnessed it first hand, I’ve dealt with it on a personal level. However I do believe to some extent that we are mollycoddling ourselves and exacerbating the situation. As much as awareness needs to be raised in regards to mental health and in keeping people safe we also need to stop viewing it as a personality trait. It is never something to be ashamed of but it’s not something to be proud of neither. As an anxiety sufferer with PTSD and … Continue reading Stop labelling yourself
