Do you WANT goals?

Or do you just want to live your life?   Everywhere I look these days it’s all, #goals what are your goals? Set your goals! Achieve your goals! Live your dreams! Dreams! Goals! Dreams! Goals! Argh!   Now, while I love how positive this is and I think it is important to have goals, to have something to work towards, it shouldn’t be the be all and end all. Being focused is good but you don’t want to be so focused on one thing for so long that you forget to look around and see what else is going on. … Continue reading Do you WANT goals?

I had a dream…

We all dream, whether or not we remember our dreams is a different matter. I always assumed that everyone had weird, f**ked up dreams. I’ve never had a dream that was just normal. Something bizarre, terrifying or just weird usually happens. I only started thinking about it when I heard someone refer to their dream as weird because in it they owned a cat… Well funnily enough I did dream last night that we had a cat, only this cat could talk and it told me about the flies I had living in my pen…I mean a pen … Continue reading I had a dream…

Time.

As you might be aware I recently published my first book – From flat-out to focused. This was, of  course, an enormous achievement for me and something I am happy to tick off of my goals list. Since publishing the book I have had several people ask me how I had time to write it. The simple answer is that I found the time, I had to make the time. We have all said that we don’t have time for this or that. We’re too busy. If you really want to do something you will make the time. I had … Continue reading Time.

Accomplishing my goals, one by one.

I’ve only gone and done it. I have written and published a book. This is something that I have dreamt and fantasised about for years. Yes, I fantasise about having books published…so what? I know it doesn’t come with £50,000 advance or a fancy book tour or signings in huge shopping centres but it will do eventually. This is a huge achievement for me. I was actually pretty scared about doing this, I don’t mind admitting that. I worried about what people might think and what they might say, but you know what? I don’t actually care now. I … Continue reading Accomplishing my goals, one by one.

You can, You will.

Do you think that when Alan Sugar, Richard Branson and J.K Rowling first started out they were successful overnight? Well they weren’t. So that answered that. They did not make millions on their first day of business. When Rowling was sat on that train planning Harry Potter, she didn’t know it would make her the UK’s best-selling living author. There may well have been instances where they felt like a failure or someone told them  it wasn’t going to work out. I don’t know for sure, maybe everything ran perfectly for them, I’m fairly sure it didn’t. From what … Continue reading You can, You will.

“I’ll do it later”

“I’ll do it later” I know exactly what I mean when I say ‘I’ll do it later’. It usually means ‘I have no interest in doing that so I’ll put it off until it goes away’ (which it doesn’t). Those things are usually along the lines of washing up, laundry, drying my hair. The mundane every day crap. What then are my reasons for putting off the fun stuff? The exciting things that fill me with energy and zest for life? It’s fear. The fear tells you that you’re not ready yet, you’ve missed your chance, you’re … Continue reading “I’ll do it later”

What do I want to do?

Well we all already know that I want to do everything! Again this is one of those moments where I remember David Allen; “You can do anything, not everything” However, just for the sake of it I thought I’d write a few of those things down that I think about doing. Some of which I will do, probably pretty soon. Some of them might prove to be difficult, that’s no reason to not do them, they’ll just take longer and others are pretty improbable, but not impossible 🙂 Some of these are goals that I have set … Continue reading What do I want to do?

Dreams and Meditation

Meditation has been a huge comfort for me recently. Not only does it reduce my stress and anxiety levels but it is opening up areas of my mind that are strange and unusual. I spoke of listening to Adagio for Strings in  a previous post and how it conjured up some incredible visuals. This is something I intend to build on. The serenity of it all is addictive. Here we have a legal and free way to get high! Your mind is so powerful and capable of so much that we don’t even know about yet. Alongside my meditation experiences … Continue reading Dreams and Meditation
