I am sure there thousands of things that I’ve learnt, actually, I am 100% certain that I have learnt millions of things! But here’s a very important list of things that I’ve taken on board in my 30’s and they … Continue reading Some things I have learnt in my 36 years…
Yes, I’m nearly 40! How has this happened? I still feel 18. I remember being 18 and thinking that 40 was REALLY old… and it REALLY isn’t! However, I do wake up most mornings in pain and everything hurts pretty … Continue reading 40 things before 40
Earlier this week I attended the funeral of a lady whom I had never met. I was there to accompany my Mum, I don’t just randomly turn up at strangers funerals. I must admit I was rather perturbed by the prospect of sharing this personal experience with people who before that day, I had never met and who were obviously there to say goodbye to their loved one, who again, I had never met. The service was beautiful, it took place at Tarn Moor Memorial Woodland where instead of headstones and graves they plant trees in … Continue reading What makes you, you?
In my very early days of serious blogging I was chatting to a lady about my blog and she asked to see it. I gave her my site address and she had a quick look. She asked me, “What’s your USP?” USP wasn’t a term I was familiar with so I drew a blank. “Your unique selling point. What is it?” “Oh well, I don’t know. Me, I suppose” Well apparently that wasn’t a good enough answer for this lady who actually had no influence on me or my blog… To be perfectly honest though I think it was … Continue reading “What’s your USP?”…
I’m sorry to disappoint you all but there is no meaning to our lives. There is no ultimate goal. We are here as a product of circumstance and coincidence. We weren’t placed here for a higher purpose or created for a deities pleasure. What reason would there be for that to happen? Why would someone go to all that trouble? The best explanation for the meaning to life, the Universe and everything that I have ever been given is 42. When I first watched Hitch Hikers Guide it was just a funny thing I watched with … Continue reading Is the meaning of life really 42?
I guarantee that there are at least 10 things in your home right now that you could discard, that you don’t use, you don’t like or has been sat in a cupboard for so long you’d forgotten you had and you’ve not even missed it. Why are you hoarding these things? Are they making you happy? When you look at your bookcase full of books you’ve already read or will never read, does it fill you with joy or does it stress you out because you don’t have time to read all of those wonderful books? Imagine all … Continue reading House to Home
The Dash – Written by Linda Ellis I recently came across this poem by Linda Ellis and it made me think. It made me think about how my life will be remembered, how it will be represented or how anyone’s life is represented and remembered. On your gravestone it will read: In loving memory of [Insert name here] … Continue reading Make it a good dash
Here is my collection of survival tips from the people who were there, eye-witness accounts from the survivors… “You weren’t there man!” This blog post actually incited a panic attack…so enjoy. Get lots and lots of stabby weapons… Acquire a big, giant off-road vehicle, suitable for driving over corpses. Kill the people who suggest going to police stations, hospitals etc. These people will only continue to make stupid suggestions. They’re better off dead now. Or keep them around to kill later for food. Ditch the friends you have now and replace them with people like Ray Mears … Continue reading How To Survive…Zombies
My favourite flavour of crisps is plain, ready salted. Some people might read that and think of it as being boring. Whereas I look at it as the place where I can control the chaos that is my life and by chaos I mean freaking awesomeness! My life is filled with appointments, days out, meals, weekends away, meeting friends, spending time with family and I love it. I could not have it any other way. I love being busy, I like having somewhere to go and something to do. Especially at a weekend. My week days are filled with work, … Continue reading Plain and simple
Well we all already know that I want to do everything! Again this is one of those moments where I remember David Allen; “You can do anything, not everything” However, just for the sake of it I thought I’d write a few of those things down that I think about doing. Some of which I will do, probably pretty soon. Some of them might prove to be difficult, that’s no reason to not do them, they’ll just take longer and others are pretty improbable, but not impossible 🙂 Some of these are goals that I have set … Continue reading What do I want to do?
