What Kate did next…

I opened an Etsy shop!

I thought I should make good use of my Bachelor of Arts degree and open an Etsy shop, not that you need a degree to open an Etsy shop, but I thought I should make it count for something. You can find my art work here.

I’ve also just booked my first exhibition, it doesn’t take place until October 2024, but I’m excited for it and it gives me plenty of chance to get some more pieces created. This will be at the Apothecary Gallery in Thornton, which in itself is special to me because the building this is in used to be a pet shop many years ago and used to visit it with my grandparents. It’s also wonderful that old stores and buildings are being repurposed in my home village.

I was in the paper.

My book, Say The Word, was in the local paper!

My Life Story

Very exciting news! My good friend Debbie, who is a fabulous writer is writing my life story! We’re in the very early stages of this project but it’s pretty exciting. This came about after I’d shared a video abut some of the traumas I have faced and another friend of mine sent me a very moving message of support and mentioned that she’d love to see my life as a film. I knew I wouldn’t have the stamina to write the book, so I contacted Debbie, and straight away she was full of ideas of how to get it started. So, watch this space…

I was an MBIE finalist

I was recently named as a semi-finalist in Miss British Isles Elegance 2020. I had such a wonderful day at the photo shoot in Liverpool. I am currently awaiting the results and will let you know asap! Wish me luck! Here’s a few snaps from the day…

I did a bit of acting

I’ve been extremely lucky to be involved with some fantastic productions over the last few years. Below is a slideshow of snaps from Once A Year On Blackpool Sands (2020), The Little Mermaid (2018), Aladdin (2019), Beauty and the Beast (2017), Branwell (2019), Body Talk (2020) and Beautiful Monster (2020).

I was on the radio

My first radio interview, The Writer’s Bookshelf with David Driver on Drystone Radio back in 2018, I am reciting some of my own poetry and having a good old chinwag. It’s quite a long one so you might want to get settled in! I did choose an awesome playlist though if I do say so myself…

I have two poetry books available on Amazon, My Twisted Turmoil and Chaotic Calm, and We Don’t Own The Words (This one also includes some short stories and prose).
